Broadband is IT

Posted on Saturday 3 March 2007

From the Sesame Communications Newsletter: According to recent reports by Neilson/NetRatings, known as the global standard for Internet audience measurement, as of November 2006 over three-fourths of U.S. active Internet users connect via broadband at home. Between May 2005 and May 2006, broadband usage among active web users increased by 15% and “narrowband” (dial-up) usage decreased by 15%. And as of May 2006, broadband usage in the workplace hit 90%.

With most of the country hurtling through cyberspace at top speed, the few who don’t yet have broadband are out to get it! Rural communities across the country, many of which lack the infrastructure to support broadband, are vigorously pursuing wireless and other Internet systems that will bring broadband to their communities.
