Dentrix Dental Systems - Dexis Announcement

Henry Schein has made a major strategic change and has sold off the high tech division of Dentrix. See the announcement from the Dentrix web site below. The announcement says that the purchase was made by Dexis, LLC. In fact Dexis is owned now by a much bigger company Danaher.

In the last few years Danaher has purchased Gendex, Dexis and now part of Dentrix. (They also acquired several other dental companies including Kavo, Pelton Crane and others).

According to the company line the intent is to fuse the best of each product and to continue to provide the wide range of interoperability that Image pioneered. However it looks like they will blend them into the Dexis brand.

Melville, N.Y. and Des Plaines, IL, January 7, 2007 DEXIS, LLC, and Henry Schein, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSIC), today announced an agreement to transfer certain assets and liabilities relating to the DENTRIX proprietary digital imaging business to DEXIS. The agreement includes the ImageRAYi and Easy Ray sensors, Image CAM HD intra-oral camera, and the DENTRIX Image, Easy Image, DENTRIX Clarity and Vipersoft software applications. The imaging software solutions to be sold in the future will continue to enjoy the same functionality and product interoperability as they do today. All imaging products offered by DEXIS will be exclusively distributed by Henry Schein.
