Larry, it's not happening. Of course, tort reform is a necessity, not only to save billions of dollars, but also to restore fairness to an abusive and arbitrary system. I'm a physician who has been in the arena. See www.MDWhistleblower.blogspot.com under Legal Quality.

Care credit makes case acceptance much higher. 44% increase is a major increase. Dentists need to provide these to their patients based on this fact.

I still hope that Obama comes through with healthcare for everyone.
Of course this would be not so good for you US dentists but then there would be a massive shortage of dentists in the US and they might think about being less strict when it comes to foreign dentists working in the US.
The US is the only region that combines good weather and wealthy people.
I can't stand all the rain in Britain anymore....

Warren, Larry Emmott I was going to make a lame joke about...who knew they even had high speed in Sascatoon...but then decided that the more relevant comment was that technology is such a culteral leveler. The fact is it no longer takes years for the culture to trickle out from New York to the hinterlands. It takes minutes.

The other relevant point is standards. Yes it would be great if everything worked together. In fact that merits a thoughtful blog post...thanks for the idea :-)

Warren Bobinski We need this in a big way - but even more it would be nice if all the carriers would get on board so we have a consistent network across the country!
I loved this article in PC mag - the guy watched uninterrupted video on his laptop on a high speed train (speeds of about 1 - 4 MbPS) - in our country you would be lucky to just make a call and not ...
have it dropped! This was in Korea (he says Americans should be jealous, I loved this blog!)
Check it out Larry...

John Flucke I get a large statistical part of our phone calls based on finding the phone number online. The YP is still working for me in my area, but not nearly as well as it used to. In the not too distant future I can see doing away with it.

Mon at 10:42am • Larry Emmott John do you have an enhanced yellow page online? Or just the standard , Enhanced means they push you to the front of the line standard they have to scroll to your name...not likely.

Mon at 12:36pm •

Warren Bobinski I have been skeptical about Yelow Page advertising for years - You can get more information in seconds just by searching on Google or Yahoo (or maybe Bing) that I think the Yellow Pages are becoming less relevant.
The power of a good referral has always been the way most business grows - and the Social Media like Facebook and Twitter have strong applications for this 'referral' type of business in the future (in my humble opinion)
Smile!
Warren B

Success in Dentistry and Life!
PS - the only time I have picked up the yellow pages in the last year was when it was delivered, and to check all the Dentists advertising :)

Mon at 10:45am • Mark Giebelhaus We stopped our Yellow Pages advertising several years ago for all of the reasons mentioned above.

Darrell, Good advice. Like it not in many places social media is a force. Asking patients for a positive review is good but an even better method is to have a system like Sesame or Demand Force do it for you.

Emmott, whether one calls DR. Oogle a fad or not, I call it salvation for my practice in these tough economic times. I can tell you from experience that patients who find me on Oogle enter my office already sold on the dentist. That’s hard to beat. I’m losing a lot of new patients to managed care networks, though. It’s still scary.

I would suggest you advise your readers to selectively ask patients to put in a good word or two for the office. If one is destined to get a bad review from a hot-head, it’s much nicer to have a cushion of good reviews under it.

Besides, I’ve never lost a single patient from asking them for the favor of a review.
