A couple of days ago I received a “Living Social” e-mail touting an Invisalign special from a local dentist. Living Social is an Amazon version of Groupon. After two days here is the online offer page.
Notice that zero people have bought the offer. Why not? Is this type of marketing useless? I really do not know the answer however I think the results are instructive.
My guess is that the amount is too high for a personal service. People will use a dental coupon for what they perceive as a low risk service like a cleaning. After all if they hate the dentist or get bad service they can go to another office. However if they commit over $3,000 to a treatment and then don’t like the dentist what can they do?
