Microsoft Sells 175 Million Copies of Windows 7 in Nine Months

Three conclusions based on the Mashable report linked below.

Windows 7 works, it does not seem to have the issues that plagued its ill fated precursor Vista. So now that 7 has been out for nine months if you are looking to upgrade…go for it. BTW I have a laptop using Windows 7 and it is doing fine.

I suspect that a big reason for the huge sales of 7 is that Vista had such a poor reputation that many people (including me) were hanging onto good old XP longer than usual. In other words there was pent up demand for a newer better windows.

Despite the hype for tablets and mobile it doesn’t look like the desktop is actually going away any time soon.

Microsoft is reporting that more than 175 million copies of Windows 7 were sold in just nine months, making it the fastest-selling OS in the company’s history
