Most of the social media buzz in dentistry surrounds Facebook. Facebook is awesome and has the potential to help you build an online community for your patients. If done well that can be very valuable. However I think dentists need to be aware of other social media and how we can use it. LinkedIn is a kind of Facebook for business. The article linked below is a review from PC Magazine.

LinkedIn is positively invaluable for any career-minded person over the age of 20. The site, which launched in 2003, is the place where professionals stay connected. You can think of it as a social networking site—and certainly, a good deal of socialization does go on—although it’s really more of a professional networking site.
