Some key bits. The Google ranking algorithm uses 200 different “signals” to determine the relevance of the page(s) it displays for your query. These signals change constantly with 500 improvements per year. In other words there is no “secret sauce” that some obscure SEO company has found that can guarantee you the top ranking on Google.
Some things that do count are freshness of content, the actual words on the page and the number of others linking to you. In other words that old page you set up on 2009 with an obscure URL that you have not updated since is not doing you any good with Google.
