Some interesting research from Sesame Communications:

The world has gone mobile. A February 2012 study by research firm comScore found 64.2 million U.S. citizens use their mobile devices for social networking (including reading blogs), with more than half of them doing so “almost every day.” That number is up 77% from last year.

While the study found users are most likely to read posts from friends, it noted almost 58% of users use their social networks to interact with brands and organizations.

By far, the top app that people use to get their social scoop on is Facebook.
