We gather all kinds of data about our patients and our dental practice as a byproduct of doing business using a computer.
This includes demographic data like age and location as well as treatment data like frequency of visits and types of services as well as financial data. If you could analyze all this data to determine who is receiving the best care and who may be left out you could run a more efficient practice, improve patient outcomes and increase profitability.
In theory it is possible to do this by extracting the data from your practice management system and loading it into Excel or some other data base application and then designing effective and creative ways to analyze all the data. However that is far too big a task for any single dentist to take on so our data just sits in our machines doing nothing to earn its keep.
However there are ways to easily, efficiently and inexpensively use the data with e-services.
