From NYT:

Something strange is going on in medicine. Major diseases, like colon cancer, dementia and heart disease, are waning in wealthy countries, and improved diagnosis and treatment cannot fully explain it.

Scientists marvel at this good news, a medical mystery of the best sort and one that is often overlooked as advocacy groups emphasize the toll of diseases and the need for more funds. Still, many are puzzled.

Worth reading, this article hits one of my major hot buttons. We live in remarkable times, by every measure we have never had it so good. Despite this obvious truth people, politicians and activists, insist on telling us things are horrible and likely to get worse. Of course individuals may still face horrible situations and far too many people suffer and die needlessly. However overall the human condition has never been better.

It seems we may be on the verge of conquering old age itself. Amazing!
