This is a link to an article for the general public on the digital advances in dentistry.  It is focused on dental school but does mention some new dental technologies. It is good to know what the public is seeing regarding dentistry.

Dental students are entering a profession radically different the one their professors entered a generation ago. Drills are giving way to lasers and air abrasion. Digital tomography is replacing X-rays. Files stuffed with charts will soon be a thing of the past.
