Hmmm
The family physician stopped accepting all forms of health insurance. In early 2013, Ciampi sent a letter to his patients informing them that he would no longer accept any kind of health coverage, both private and government-sponsored. Given that he was now asking patients to pay for his services out of pocket, he posted his prices on the practice’s website.
The beginning of a new trend or a last desperate act in the face of oblivion?
It is easier, much easier, for dentists to go insurance free than it is for physicians. The fact this doctor posted his fees on his website is to me even more interesting and may have more future significance than the no insurance tactic. Medical fees have become completely opaque so that people never shop for value from the physician or hospital they shop insurance coverage.
