The S Curve

When you think about change think in an S. That is that change does not happen in a straight line like the boring black line in the diagram below but in an S curve shown by the exciting magenta line. The early days of any successful new technology tend to be a real challenge. Usually any new technology is expensive and difficult to use. The only people who are adopting it are risk takers and hobbyists. Eventually the technology improves and becomes easier to use at lower cost until it reaches a tipping point and almost overnight (or so it seems) the new product or technology takes off and in just a very short time becomes mainstream.
