A very interesting article by one of my favorite thinkers Megan McArdle. She points out our built in bias toward helping others in need and how that affects our perception of and obligations toward people needing medical care.
On the other hand it is also immoral to force people to provide their time and talent for free (that is slavery). Health care can not be a right if it imposes on and restricts the rights of others. A truly challenging philosophical problem.
