Google’s Pigeon Update May Prove Detrimental To Medical Practices

pigeonThanks to my friends at Sesame Communications for the tip:

In July of this year, Google rolled out a mini update that was quickly deemed “Pigeon” by Search Engine Land and other SEO sources across the web. It was clear from the start that the Pigeon update would have a major impact on local searches. What does that have to do with your medical practice?

Large directories are seeing a boost in rankings and “map-packs” are getting shorter. Regardless of this new update, it’s a good idea for medical practices, big or small, to have a strong presence in directory listings. According to a the 2013 AT&T Small Business Technology Poll, half of all local searches are done via specialized directories or apps instead of search engines. Now that the Pigeon update has rolled out and given these directories an extra boost, it’s a great time to establish your own listings.
