Betamax was a failed video recording system from Sony that has come to symbolize two awkward techno truths. First the best technology does not always win. Second when a system fails users are left with useless expensive stuff that will need to be replaced with more expensive stuff.

For example there are 14 Cone Beam CT units for sale n the US. My guess is the market can support two or three. If you but one of the “losers” you will left as a techno orphan with no upgrades or support.

If you are a techno junkie who enjoys fooling with the latest gizmos out in the region where the leading edge can quickly become the bleeding edge; fine. Just be aware you are taking risks and you could be Betamaxed and loose it all.
