This video is based on the ideas of Clayton Christensen author of the “Innovator’s Dilemma” and the “Innovator’s Prescription” which focuses on the medical profession.
Three important ideas from this concept that relate to technology in dentistry:
- The established market or industry does not recognize (in fact may not be able to recognize) disruptive change when it first appears.
- Many new technologies or processes are developed all the time and it is impossible to predict which will end up disrupting the status quo. Most fail and disappear.
- When a disruptive change does start to make a difference the entrenched establishment will attempt to fight it with government regulations.
