…Now, with more than 95 percent of U.S. hospitals and nearly 90 percent of physicians’ offices equipped with some type of EHR system, according to federal figures, Verona-based Epic is branching out to put other types of health care providers in the loop, as well.

The headline mentions dentists but the actual article does not have any real information on how dentists or even if dentists are being added to the system.

In my experience medical systems do not readily transfer to dental systems. The medical EHR systems I have used are very poorly designed and challenging to use. I would not give up Dentrix to use them.

On the other hand I believe a universal medical/ dental record available online is an ideal worth pursuing. So far the medical side needs work, a lot of work and the security issues have not been adequately addressed.
