The Dentrix Business of Dentistry meeting last week was a great event with over 1300 participants. I congratulate all those people and dental offices who took the time to travel to the meeting to learn more about using Dentrix.

BUT, I was astonished to find that a great many of them knew very little about the functionality and capabilities of Dentrix. Many people were surprised to learn about basic functions we were using ten to fifteen years ago that they just did not know even existed let alone how to use.

Most offices use 12-15% of their software and then complain it doesn’t do things it actually will do. What is even more amazing is that the people at the meeting are self-selected offices that care about using their software. What about everyone else?

Failure to get adequate ongoing training is one of the two biggest mistakes I see dentists make with high tech.
