FDA expects this fall to update its cybersecurity guidance, which will describe how device manufacturers should build products hardened against cyber-borne attacks, Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said in a wide-ranging speech on medical device regulations

The Internet of things, which includes smart medical devices, has amazing potential to improve the human condition with better care and lower costs. However at this time the Internet of things is simply not secure. Until the systems can be made reasonably secure they will not be utilized as they should, The risks are too great. There is some indication that “Blockchain” technology may be the answer.
