To Mill or Not to Mill Cerec AC

What I like best about the Cerec  AC is that at this time it is the only system that can function as an impression only system similar to iTero or Lava and then can be upgraded to a full chairside CAD CAM unit.

So you can get started with digital impressions for 1/4 to 1/3 the cost of CAD CAM and no additional scan fees. If it works out and your future practice situation indicates, it  can be upgraded to a full CAD CAM later without wasting your investment in the impression only system.

Those restorations which do not lend themselves to CAD CAM such as a bridge or an esthetically critical anterior unit can still be restored with a digital impression taken with the Cerec Bluecam. The impression is just sent to a lab instead of to a design computer and a milling device.

The impressions are sent through the Internet to the lab. At this time over 1000 labs participate as Cerec online providers. That means no goo in the patient’s mouth, no messy stone models that need to be poured up and then can distort, no calling the lab or UPS for a pick up and no shipping fee.
