Delicate Robot

Would you expect a robot to be able to pick a flower, crack an egg or more to the point do some dentistry? Check out the video link from Mashable below:

Most of us envision robots as clumsy, vaguely humanoid, steam punk like machines. Of course real robots do not look like humans and are programmed to do very specific tasks, like weld a car body or vacuum the floor. The idea of a robot doing a delicate task like picking a flower of stroking a kitten is wierd.

However if a robot can gently pick a flower could it not be designed to scale a tooth or probe a pocket?
